History
nulife.com.au is the culmination of a family business of carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning professionals that had their origins in the industry 7 decades ago in 1954 as founders of the industry somewhat, and is now in 3rd generation of ownership and management with Peter “P.J.” Brown who began cleaning carpets and rugs in his father Noel Browns’ factory in 1966 at the age of 10 with the assistance of his Nan Jane and his Pop Mickey.
Peter inherited and continued to operate and effectively direct the family business at the tender age of 15 upon his fathers’ death in 1971. His grandparents Jane and Mickey had also died by this time. He cleaned carpets before school, after school and at weekends shampooing them and directing the business. Peter also continued to attend High School and in 1975 became full-time in the business. In 1972 Peter bought one of the first carpet steam cleaning machines imported into Australia from North America. The business flourished and worked 24 / 7 for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, government and other industry identities. 1979 saw Peter become active in the establishment of the first industry orientated association in Australia, CUCA (The Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners of Australia) as a Foundation Member. In 1981 Peter bought the first electric and LP gas truck-mounted machine in Australia and the business flourished further.
It is to be noted that he has always been involved closely contributing his time and skills to promote the carpet and upholstery cleaning industry. He has held all committee positions in numerous industry associations since, and more recently was a President of NUCCA (National Upholstery & Carpet Cleaners Association) in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Between 1981 and 1986 as Secretary of CUCA, Peter was paramount in investigating complaints about carpet and upholstery cleaners lodged before Consumer Affairs Victoria through the Small Claims Tribunal, as CAV’s contact at CUCA, for complainants needing skilled independent analysis, reporting and at times testimony as to what had gone wrong, and if, and how the damage could be remedied as well as well as any potential reinstatement costs. In this time Peter restored many damaged, seemingly unfixable instances of bad workmanship through his training, experience and knowledge gained through colleagues in CUCA.
Peter has had numerous truck-mount (petrol mainly) and portable carpet steam cleaning machines since and has progressed at the forefront of the industry to see shampooing methods outdated, the introduction of steam cleaning and supposed “dry cleaning” and encapsulation introduced into the industry. Peter today is trained up and Registered with the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) and is one of the most respected members of his industry doing all modern methods of carpet and upholstery cleaning and water damage restoration 24 / 7. nulife.com.au in the “NuAge” is the culmination of all the afore-mentioned and much more.
